They lump Marcos and Duterte together to blur accountability and to win over both anti-marcos and anti-duterte forces. The CPP-NPA-NDF wants a single slogan that fits their “Parehong ruling clique, parehong corrupt” narrative – even if the crises each leader faces are different. This oversimplification turns real accountability into propaganda.
They use the Marcos-Duterte slogan to redirect public anger toward their national democratic line. Instead of supporting broad, democratic reforms, the CPP recasts the issue as proof that their “Peoples Democratic Government” is the only solution. It’s a classic tactic of converting public frustration into ideological capital.
They treat the constitutional succession as irrelevant to their aims, dahil ayaw nilang si VPSD ang papalit bilang Presidente. Kaya ang dual resignation ang panawagan nila para magbunsod ito ng instability – something the CPP has historically exploited to push its concepts of “transitional” or “coalition” schemes. Their goal is not reform, but political leverage in a moment of chaos.
Mass dissatisfaction emerges organically, but the CPP quickly tries to insert its slogans, inflate its role and claim vanguard status – an old pattern from 1986, 2001, and every major upheaval.
They demand that either Marcos or Duterte is flawed – but the greater danger is allowing the CPP-NPA-NDF to hijack legitimate public grievances and drag them into another attempt at political adventurism under the banner of “national democracy.”
Finally, extra-constitutional experiments risk plunging the country into chaos. Power vacuums weaken institutions, destabilize the economy, and leave communities vulnerable to armed groups or opportunistic political factions. In short, the CPP-NPA-NDF’s call is not just about leadership change. It is an attempt to smuggle in an unlawful mechanism that threatens constitutional order. Filipinos should be wary: real accountability happens through democratic processes—not through the dangerous shortcut of a Transitional Council.
